NCI-H727细胞系是一种人类肺癌细胞系,具有上皮形态,源自一位65岁白人女性的肺类癌(carcinoid tumor)组织。这个细胞系由A.F. Gazdar、H.K. Oie、J.D. Minna及其同事在治疗前从组织中分离得到。NCI-H727细胞系是可用的支气管类癌细胞系中分化最好的一种,它们表达易于检测的p53 mRNA水平,与正常肺组织中发现的水平相比。这些细胞能够合成肽类物质neuromedin B(NMB)(0.1 pmol/mg蛋白),但不能合成胃泌素释放肽(GRP)。NCI-H727细胞系分泌的甲状旁腺激素样蛋白是通过蛋白激酶C途径钙刺激的。表皮生长因子(EGF)受体单克隆抗体可以抑制NCI-H727细胞的生长。。

此外,NCI-H727细胞系表达了synaptophysin、CD56、chromograninA和NSE等神经内分泌标记物,通过免疫细胞化学染色显示。同时,这些细胞通过RT-PCR表达了sstr1、2和5的mRNA,并在免疫细胞化学中显示了sstr1、2A和5的蛋白表达。
NCI-H727细胞系在研究神经内分泌肿瘤(NETs)中具有重要价值,例如,它们被用于研究肽受体放射性核素治疗(PRRT)的疗效,这是一种针对表达生长抑素受体的NETs患者的靶向治疗选项。
